2-Cycle Model Service FAQs

2-Cycle Model Service FAQs

Are the ice drills made for the Jiffy® 3500 Series - 30 Series Models and the Jiffy® 2500 Series - 70 Series Models interchangeable?

Yes. Jiffy® has gone to a universal system for ice drills. The 6", 8", 9" will fit 2500 Series and 3500 Series units. The 10" is for the 3500 Series only.

Can motor oil or four-cycle oil be used for the fuel mix?

No.

Can regular unleaded gas be used?

Yes, it is the gasoline type recommended for use by the engine manufacturer but must not exceed 94 octane.  Gasoline with more than 10% Ethanol is not recommended.

Can the blades on a Jiffy® Ice Drill be re-sharpened?

Yes, Jiffy® Power Ice Drill blades (cutting teeth) can be re-sharpened, but must be taken to a service dealer that does blade sharpening to maintain the precise factory angles.  It's wise to keep a properly sharpened or new spare blade on hand.  It’s also important to maintain the angles that were ground at the factory.  Never try to re-sharpen hand ice drill blades.  Once these hand blades start dulling, you must purchase a new set.

Is it ok to leave fuel in a Jiffy® Power Ice Drill during the summer months?

Yes, when using Jiffy® 2-Cycle Smokeless Oil with Fuel Stabilizer. The proper storage procedure is located in the manual.

What is the correct mixture of oil and gasoline to use for fuel in a Jiffy®?

The correct ratio for all Jiffy® Power Ice Drills is 40 to 1. This means 3.2 oz of Jiffy® Two-Cycle Oil is mixed with 1 Gallon of fresh gasoline or you can use 40:1 pre-mixed engineered fuel. If you don't use a 40:1 oil mixture it will void all warranties.

What is the warranty on a Jiffy® Power Ice Drill?

Jiffy® has the best warranty and service available in the industry.  All Jiffy® Power Ice Drills purchased between 10/1/16 and 8/31/18 have a 5-year warranty period from the date of purchase.  If you didn't purchase your Jiffy® Power Ice Drill between 10/1/16 and 8/31/18, you will have a 2-year warranty period from the date of purchase.  If you have a problem with a Tecumseh engine, refer to the nearest Authorized Tecumseh Service Center by calling 1-800-558-5402. For all other repairs take the drill to an Authorized Jiffy Service Dealer.

Where do I take my 2-cycle unit if warranty work is needed?

Do not return your 2-cycle unit to the retailer. Call the Jiffy® Customer Service number at 800-345-6007 or take your unit to your nearest Jiffy® service dealer. Have your Jiffy® Serial Number available when you call.
